last night mr. handsome and i met up with our new mexico friends (plus a couple of their friends) back on canadian soil and ate italian.

our dinner date took us to niko's bistro, a cozy italian restaurant in one of my favourite neighbourhoods, kensington. we also had too much wine (okay maybe just the girls did) and calamari for dessert because, well because it's me.  and i love calamari.  and because the calamari is their signature dish and because it's simply delicious.

last nights feast = this mornings 6:30am run/wakeup call

 salsiccia della casa |  homemade italian sausage served with polenta fries

caprese salad |  bocconcini cheese, tomatoes, olive oil & sweet balsamic dressing

bruschetta |  toasted baguette

manicotti |  homemade crepes stuffed with parmesan, mozzarella, ricotta and spinach in a creamy tomato sauce

salmone limone |  filet of salmon in a lemon, white wine sauce.  served with penne pasta and vegetables

agnello brasato |  lamb shank braised with garden vegetables, olive oil & tomatoes  served with risotto 

special |  bacon wrapped strip loin served with penne & vegetables

chocolate mousse |  whipped cream

calamari all'inferno | crispy squid, with garlic and lemon, in a spicy tomato sauce
