Can You Freeze It?

As we gladly welcome the warmer months, so to do we welcome colder treats.  When you think of chilly treats I'm sure your first thoughts are ice cream and Slurpee's, or maybe those are my first thoughts, hmmm, regardless.  However, there are loads of other foods and treats that can be frozen in order to satisfy your need for something cold on on a hot day.  Here are some other options courtesy of Food Network Magazine.  Be forewarned some of these are life changing...

yogurt | freeze in pop molds
peppermint patties
watermelon wedges
grapes | freeze individually or in bunches
peanut butter cups
doughnut holes
chocolate cake slices
orange or grapefruit wedges | freeze up to 4 hours
canned fruit | use peaches pears, or pineapple
root beer | freeze in pop moods
cheesecake slices
melon cubes | freeze up to 4 hours
brownie squares
applesauce | freeze in ice cube trays
mango slices | freeze up to 4 hours
iceberg lettuce wedges | freeze up to 4 hours; dips in blue cheese or ranch dressing
avocado slices | freeze up to 4 hours; sprinkle with chile powder and salt

How to Freeze These Snacks

  1. Arrange the items on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  2. Freeze until solid, at least 2 hours.
  3. Transfer to a Ziploc bag, press out the air and seal; freeze up to 1 month, unless noted.
  4. Remove from the freezer a few minutes before eating.

Can I just tell you that I think frozen lettuce and avocados may just be my new summer go-to.  Also at some point during the summer I'm sure I'll find my way to having frozen pb cups and cheesecake.  Just saying.

Cheers to chilly treats.  Happy 'almost' Summer!
